In January, I resumed my regular weekly class at Leeds’ Swarthmore Centre and a mental health day centre in York. I’ve been invited to run a series of Saturday Circles with special needs young people for People in Action, Leeds . In April, after sessions with Chapel Allerton primary and Slingsby CP School, I travelled to meet my drumming ‘family and friends' at the Seattle World Rhythm Festival, and on 16th May, returned with drum circles to York Steiner School’s Spring Fair. May 2nd: a day with a gaggle of Brownies and Guides in York, followed by a private party in Huddersfield! 21st May - Ralph Butterfield School, Haxby, York; 24 May - Drum Circles at York Carnival. 07 June - Community Drum Circle at the Love Apple Cafe in Bradford; 8th and 15th June Richmond school: young people with learning difficulties; 13 June -Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods Family Fun Day, asked back for my 7th year there. Starving artist? Free bacon butties? No problem! June 20th - standing in for Paul Dear at Halifax Community Drum Circle; returning to Crossgates Carnival on June 27th. July sees me at the NYCC Culture Shock 3-day Youth Festival (2nd, 3rd, and 4th) ; Botton Village School Open Day on the 5th; Family Fun Day for Friends of Springfield Mill Park on the 11th, and at Alrewas (Staffs) Show on 18th July. Prospect House Holiday Club on the 28th. August! Pickering Festival on the 1st; (Kirkby in) Ashfield Show on the 15th. Chapel Allerton Festival on 5th September. 17OCT09 - get it in your diaries - is the next Day of Dance in Saltaire near Bradford. A whole day packed with music, song and dance workshops, oh! - and - er - one drum workshop run by - er -me! This October Day of Dance will mark my tenth year at the DOD!
